Sacramento,
CA - April 6, 2001 -- Doyle Heaton, President of
Delco Builders and
Developers in Concord, California will be inducted into the
California Building Industry
Hall of Fame this July. “The Hall of Fame recognizes
outstanding individuals in the
building and construction industries who have made exceptional
contributions of
service and leadership to their communities and to the industry,”
says CBIF Chairman
Mick Pattinson, of Barratt American, Inc. in Carlsbad, California.
Having grown up in the building industry under the tutelage
of his builder-father, Doyle
received his BA and BS degree in Building and Real Estate
at the University of Denver,
following up with graduate work in real estate at the University
of California at Berkeley.
In 1965, he was recruited to California by Ken Hofmann, spending
the next four years as
a Hofmann Company project manager, estimator and assistant.
He founded Delco
Builders and Developers in 1977, carving out a lucrative niche
as one of the region’s
most accomplished sponsors of urban infill housing.
Doyle is highly regarded in the industry as one of the very
best at recognizing land values
and acquiring land. In addition to his developments, Doyle
is also noted for “regionalizing”
several Bay Area-based local home builders associations, helping
to form the Building
Industry Association of Northern California in 1974.
The California Building Industry Foundation will induct
Mr. Heaton into the Hall of Fame at
a gala dinner on Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at the Westin St.
Francis Hotel in San Francisco.
The Hall of Fame Dinner is a fundraiser for CBIF’s scholarship
program, which has more
than $1.8 million in scholarship and research endowments.
Scholarship funds in excess
of $600,000 have been disbursed to students at more than 60
colleges and universities.
CBIF’s Research Endowment has financed studies on construction
dispute resolution,
growth control and affordable housing.
The Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of
housing and construction in
California, improving education and advancing public awareness
of industry issues. The
home building industry in California employs more than a half-million
workers, contributes
$22 billion annually to the state’s economy, and generates
another $32 billion in indirect expenditures in California
each year.
